Industrial-related job growth in the Inland Empire has been explosive since the recession

  • The continued growth of e-commerce as a key demand driver of  industrial real estate has altered the Inland Empire’s employment picture, resulting in thousands of new jobs.
  • Prior to the recession, manufacturing and construction employment each doubled the number of transportation and warehousing jobs. But logistics jobs never sustained the losses seen by other industries. In fact,  Riverside and San Bernardino Counties added 37,000 transportation and warehousing jobs over the historical peak during December of 2007.
  • It’s estimated that e-commerce has accounted for 12.0% of US retail sales in 2017. Retail analyst anticipate this figure growing to 17.0% by 2022.
