New Jersey employment gains show uneven growth

  • Approximately 44,300 private sector jobs were created in New Jersey during the past year.
  • However, this growth has varied dramatically by business segment. Nearly 75.0 percent of these job gains were within the leisure & hospitality and education & health services segments.
  • Sectors responsible for driving office demand have collectively registered only 1,200 new jobs. The lack of accelerating growth within these vital segments will continue to keep the office market on a neutral footing.
