Denver International Airport passenger traffic soars to all-time high

Denver International Airport reported that more than 58 million passengers traveled through the airport in 2016—marking a 7.9-percent increase over the prior year’s record. Last year was the third consecutive year of passenger volume growth.

Airport CEO Kim Day suggests that this increase was “driven by strong demand for travel to and from Denver, large increases in airline capacity and . . . efforts to secure new airlines and destinations around the world.”

The three largest airlines servicing Denver were reported as United Airlines, Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines with market shares of 42.0 percent, 29.3 percent and 12.2% percent, respectively.
