DOCO & Golden 1 Center are transforming downtown, enticing office tenants, and revitalizing retail

  • The new $190.3M, 250-room Kimpton Sawyer Hotel at DOCO (Downtown Commons) is set to open October 10, just in time for the start of the NBA pre-season, which starts for the Kings at home on Monday, October 2nd.
  • On top of the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel are 45 luxury condominiums that are selling from $600,000 to over $1 million. On September 26th, the Kings announced that already half of these condos have been sold. One unit still available for sale is a $4.1 million penthouse that comes in at $1,234 per square foot, the highest in the region, if sold.
  • Many traditional state-government related tenants, such as lobbyists, are looking to be closer to Golden 1 and DOCO instead of being in close proximity to the State Capitol. The latest example of this trend in action was KP Public Affairs’ decision to move from 1201 K Street to 621 Capitol Mall, across the street from the 2016-built arena.
  • New retail to round out the new six-block DOCO area include: Haagen-Dazs, Estelle Bakery & Patisserie, Urban Outfitters, Punch Bowl, State Fare Kitchen & Bar, Echo & Rig Restaurant, Yard House, and Pressed Juicery.
