Boston sees top job growth amongst nation’s most populous metros

  • Boston has recorded significant job growth over the past 10 years, growing by 15.2 percent, representing a net of 222,000 new jobs.
  • Among the nation’s top 10 most populous metros, Boston saw the 3rd highest percent in job growth, behind only the Texas cities of Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston.
  • Apart from outliers with New York, Dallas and Houston, Boston’s net number of jobs added fell in the middle of the remaining cities, an impressive feat considering Boston has the smallest number of jobs among the major metros.
  • As an established market for a diverse array of industries including tech, finance, and life sciences, Boston will continue to attract jobs and companies, fueling continued job growth in the future.
