Utah best in the west for income vs cost of living

Amongst the twelve western states, Utah has neither the highest median household income (California - $61,924), nor the lowest cost of living index (Idaho - 88.2), but does have the best ratio of income to cost of living. This desirable trait brings the most disposable income and stems from Utah performing well with both high income and low cost of living.

Utah’s median household income of $60,943 is fourth highest of the twelve states and only 1.6% below California’s. While Utah’s annual cost of living index of 92.4 is second lowest and only 4.8% higher than Idaho’s.  This makes Utah one of the prime locations attracting and retaining top companies and employees.
