For internet startups looking for a home-base, Denver might be the best bet

  • The Internet Association released their “Ease of Doing Internet Business” report, and Colorado took top honors. The report ranks states on the ease of starting, operating and growing an internet business and is made up of major internet companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Netflix and Uber, as well as many others.
  • Colorado earned a top score of 100, which puts it ahead of states such as Washington, California, Utah, Maryland and Massachusetts. The scoring is based on 62 indicators under four broad themes and is modeled on the World Banks “Ease of Doing Business” index. California, which to many people seems like the logical leader, came in as number ten. In some aspects, such as R&D and investment in innovation, it’s the clear frontrunner, but it’s important to remember that California isn’t made up of only Silicon Valley.
  • The report also adds that the Colorado workforce is highly skilled and offers a high concentration of the skillsets necessary for a thriving internet sector, in addition to the state’s low taxes and friendly regulatory environment—factors that clearly helped strengthen our state’s ranking thanks to its dynamic economy.
