Is Orlando employment peaking?

  • Over the last 12 months, Orlando employment has ben going up, with only January showing a negative monthly growth rate.
  • However, June has also seen a decrease in total employment, only the second negative month in the last two years. This negative growth rate (-1.12%) is more than double the previous negative growth (-.55%).
  • Employment trends may take time to confirm, as large investments Orlando like KMPG’s new regional campus have not yet started hiring.
  • This may be the beginning of a negative trend in employment. A trend like this will likely originate in Orlando, after leading the state in growth for the last year. A confirmation of the trend may be found in JLL’s August employment updates.
