Seattle has the best ports on the West Coast

  • Logistics Management’s Quest for Quality, an important measure of customer satisfaction and performance excellence in the transportation and logistics industry, named the Northwest Seaport Alliance(NWSA) the top West Coast market in the U.S. for the second year in a row, and second overall on the West Coast, behind only Prince Rupert.
  • Buyers of logistics and transportation services evaluated ports using the following criteria: ease of doing business, value, ocean carrier network, intermodal network, and equipment and operations.
  • The Northwest Seaport Alliance has seen strong container volumes year-to-date, with full imports up 7 percent and full exports increasing 2 percent.
  • Terminal 5 and Pier 4 are currently being reconfigured to be able to handle the larger ships entering the trans-Pacific trades. NWSA will also invest $2.9 million in capital improvements to both South and North Harbors. Ongoing investments will ensure the ports can handle future growth.
