We’re the crane capital for the second year running

  • ​Construction is strong in the Pacific Northwest, with 90 cranes combined in Seattle and Portland. There are 148 on the West Coast, more than any other region nationally. Seattle’s count is down just slightly from its total of 62 cranes last year.
  • Major downtown Seattle projects include 2+U, Madison Centre and F5 Tower. These buildings will add 2.2 million square feet to the skyline. The technology industry is still driving development activity. Since 2016, nine buildings that delivered were fully leased by tech tenants. There’s more in the pipeline for Lake Union –Google at Lakefront Blocks and Facebook at Arbor Blocks.
  • The suburbs are even getting in on the action. Southport Office Campus, a 730,000 square foot project in Renton, recently completed its first phase. Kirkland Urban has attracted major tenants, such as Tableau and Wave.​
