Job gains nearly 2.5X historical annual average gains

  • ​​33,200 jobs were added in the past 12 months, 132 percent higher than the historical long-term annual average of 14,335 jobs.

  • Industries that have gained the most jobs over the last year include: Leisure & hospitality services, Education & health services, Trade, transportation, & utilities and Professional & business services.Combined, these four industries have contributed to a gain of 251,600 jobs since 2000. Conversely, Information services has lost 35.4 percent of the jobs it had in 2000—25,500 to be exact.

  • Going forward, job gains are expected to continue in the near-term. However, with near-full employment, gains will likely begin to flatten in the next 12 months.
