Florida received the 4th most capital investment from private equity companies in 2016

The state of Florida ranked fourth nationally in total capital invested and the number of companies receiving backing from private equity firms in 2016. Texas, California and Massachusetts all received significantly more investment than the rest of the country averaging $77.9 billion. Florida and New York are firmly in the second tier of states receiving significant investments averaging $40.8 between the two states.

Florida moved up two spots from 2015 when companies received $26.8 billion, representing a 56.0 percent year over year increase in total investments. Congressional District 22 in South Florida ranked third nationally among all congressional districts, receiving $17.2 billion in capital investment.

There were 219 private equity backed companies in the state of Florida in 2016, supporting more than
33,700 jobs.​
