Booming hotel supply pipeline lands a top-10 national ranking

STR’s recently released “May 2017 Pipeline Report” places Denver as 7th in the nation for hotel development, placing it ahead of Las Vegas, Washington D.C, and Chicago.

Currently, the Mile High City boasts nearly 4,900 hotel rooms underway, which marks a 64.3-percent leap from last May. Measured as an annual percentage change, we rank third in the nation, trailing only Nashville and Seattle, and we’ve substantially outpaced the U.S. rate of increase (16.4 percent), by a nearly four-to-one ratio.

We anticipate leisure and hospitality payrolls to expand measurably by the end of 2017—perhaps not as strongly as the estimated 5.0 percent gain last year, but somewhere closer to 3.0 percent.
