Indianapolis job growth varies by industry

By analyzing major employment announcements (100 jobs or more) made between January 2016 and May 2017, we found that 7,100 net new jobs should be created in Indianapolis in the near future. Upon a closer look, we can see that some industries are growing more than others.

Technology is by far the industry creating the most jobs, totaling nearly 5,000. The two largest employment announcements came from tech companies: Infosys (2,000) and Salesforce (800).

On the other hand, retail was the only industry to see job loss. The closure of Indianapolis-based retailers HHGregg and Marsh Supermarkets have not only cost store employees, but corporate office jobs as well.
