The Raleigh-Durham metro experienced positive net absorption totaling 154,000 square feet, a sign of the robust growth in the area despite the uncertain economic times. This occupancy gain resulted in a 40 basis point decrease in the total vacancy rate to 17.2 percent. While the metro’s Class A rental rate remained flat at $21.81 per square foot, Class B properties declined to an average rate of $19.98 per square foot in first quarter 2011.
