Report | U.S. economic growth is better than expected, but still weak

Summary

The economy beat expectations in the first quarter, due to revisions in consumer spending, corporate investment, and government spending. Yet, the growth rate remained weak. As Ryan Severino points out, a few other cracks in the armor include more defaults in the auto loan market and the downgrading of China's sovereign credit.
