U.S. transaction activity in 2016 totaled $29.1 billion, and JLL predicts that 2017 volumes will amount to $29 billion to mirror the level recorded last year. U.S. hotel occupancy reached a new record of 65.5 percent in 2016. In terms of new supply, the number of hotel rooms under construction as a percentage of existing supply increased to 3.7 percent in 2016 from 2.8 percent a year ago.
