Report | United States Employment Update - February 2017

A 20-basis-point increase in the labor force participation rate boosted pushed unemployment up slightly to 4.8 percent, although it remains near cyclical lows. Minimal slack has kept wage growth up, although it slowed in January to 2.5 percent from a recovery high of 2.8 percent in December. Over the short-term, we expect continued, albeit somewhat volatile, growth on a monthly basis as full employment is approached.
