Report | Washington D.C. White Paper
Washington, D.C. consistently ranks in the top 25 hotel markets in the U.S., and JLL research shows that the city's lodging market outperforms the national market during election and inauguration years. The District of Columbia's superior performance is driven by numerous factors, including the stability provided by demand related to U.S. governmental activities, strong national, state and regional association business and additional leisure and business travel during these peak political time periods. When one political party controls the Executive Branch, the Senate and the House of Representatives, both Washington, D.C. and the U.S. have recorded average RevPAR growth of more than 7 percent, which bodes well for the Washington, D.C. and national lodging markets.
