Report | Chicago CBD Office Insight - Q3 2016

Summary

Several large corporate relocations throughout 2016 have driven occupancy gains across the CBD as year-to-date net absorption topped 2 million square feet (as of Q3).

Total vacancy's now at a record low 10.4 percent as office construction rises to meet demand for high-quality space.

If all proposed projects move forward as scheduled, Chicago will add more than 7.3 million square feet of space to the skyline by 2020, including 2.1 million square feet at the Old Main Post Office. That project's scheduled for completion by Q1 2019.
