Global economic struggles will affect business and construction demand in the United States eventually. However, the U.S. construction industry saw a strong start to 2016 despite global concerns. Overall construction costs are rising as building costs, construction employment, wages and productivity all continue to grow. Office, industrial and retail construction all grew YoY. Though the U.S. has been relatively unscathed by global uncertainty in Q1, construction will proceed with caution throughout 2016.
