Summary

Since 2010, the U.S. has seen an average of 198 retail renovation projects per year—with the most popular targets for a makeover being shopping centers that were built in the 1980s.  Not surprisingly, a number of states with large populations—California, Texas and Florida—have led the way with thirty percent of all retail renovations since 1999 as developers try to keep designs fresh in an effort to draw in more shoppers. ​
