Report | Our Take - FY 2017 Federal Budget Request

Summary

The Obama Administration recently released its proposed 2017 Federal Budget Request, which outlines proposed spending programs for the next year. Though this budget is not law, and must pass through the hands of Congress to be ratified, it is a strong indicator of government priorities, many of which will affect real estate if ratified. JLL read the whole document so you don't have to, and we identified five key policy themes that real estate investors and occupiers should monitor this year.

  • Increasing R&D funding that supports innovation in a variety of sectors
  • Developing sustainable infrastructure and transportation
  • Continuing funding for the ACA
  • Financial reforms
  • Decreasing the federal government's CRE footprint
