Summary

Since peaking in January 2011 at 10.0 percent, Cincinnati’s unemployment rate has fallen noticeably. April 2011 figures showed a 0.5 percentage point decline from the previous month to 8.4 percent. Cincinnati witnessed a fairly flat quarter in terms of absorption, reporting approximately 55,000 square feet of net gains. The urban submarkets reported positive absorption for the first time since mid-2009, with nearly 74,000 square feet of net occupancy growth, while the suburbs witnessed a second consecutive quarter of net losses. With leasing activity steadily increasing for the last four quarters, the metro area could be looking at a strong second half of 2011.
