Current responsibilities
Jerry Akin is a Vice President of JLL and a senior member in the firm’s Healthcare Practice.

Jerry has more than 30 years experience in the planning, design and construction of healthcare projects.  Personal experience includes coordinating large multi-disciplined project teams for projects ranging in size from community hospitals to academic medical centers throughout the United States.

He has a specialized knowledge and understanding of today’s healthcare clients and brings the owner’s perspective to the development process.  Jerry recognizes the importance of consensus building and partnering within the project team and understands the critical need to implement the owner/user’s goals and achieve the schedule and budget requirements.

Prior to joining JLL, Jerry was Vice President of Project Management and Construction for MHMC Healthcare in Houston, Texas.  While at MHMC Healthcare he managed the design and construction of projects totaling more than $600 million for several non-profit hospital systems within Houston and the surrounding areas.

From 1987 to 1994, Jerry was the Senior Planner for Page Southerland Page Architects, one of the top rated healthcare firms in the United States, where he managed a variety of major hospital projects in Texas, Indiana and Colorado.

From 1984 to 1987, Jerry was the Director of Central Division Facilities Planning for American Medical International, one of the largest proprietary healthcare organizations in the United States. 

Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science Architecture for the University of Texas Arlington and is a registered Architect and certified by the National Council of Architectural Boards.
