Current responsibilities
Thomas Melody co-heads the Real Estate Investment Banking (REIB) practice which is part of the JLL Capital Markets Group.

As Executive Managing Director, Tom focuses on national investor relationships, high profile loan originations and debt/equity recapitalizations for owner and lender clients. 

Tom has specifically advised clients on more than $8 billion of debt/equity origination and/or product disposition over the past ten years.

He has focused his attention primarily on institutional retail, office and multifamily real estate and has been involved with both debt and equity placement as well as complex real estate transactions. 

The REIB practice incorporates debt/equity origination, investment sales, loan/note sales, distressed asset services, loan workouts & modifications and investment advisory services. 

Tom and the REIB practice’s focus is on the sourcing of capital for acquirers and owners of real estate and keeping existing owner and lender clients apprised of the ever-changing capital markets. 

Prior to joining JLL Capital Markets, Tom held a Vice Chairman position with CBRE Capital Markets.

With more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience, he has helped build one of the nation’s largest real estate investment banking firms - L.J. Melody & Company, acquired by CBRE in 1996.

Tom co-headed CBRE Melody’s Debt and Equity Finance group from 2003-2009.
