Current responsibilities
Marshall Durston is Managing Director of Spaulding & Slye Investments.  In this capacity he is responsible for the performance of an existing portfolio of properties valued at approximately $1 billion in venture with a number of institutional clients.  His experience includes the acquisition, development, management and disposition of a myriad of properties over his 30 year career with the firm. A former Regional Director of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Mid-Atlantic region, Marshall has been a member of the firm’s strategic committee, and currently serves as one of six members of Spaulding & Slye Investments’ Investment Committee.

Years of experience

Marshall joined Jones Lang LaSalle through the acquisition of Spaulding & Slye in 2006. He served as the Regional Director of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Mid-Atlantic region from 1994 to 2000. From 2000 to 2006 Marshall served as Chief Investment Officer, and was then appointed President of Spaulding & Slye Investments from 2006 to 2010.

Key transactions
• Federal Acquisition Partners:  Marshall led a team of professionals raising $260 million of equity from California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) to acquire office, research and industrial properties occupied by the Federal Government.  He was instrumental in negotiations and documentation of this joint venture and currently serves on its three member Board. After a successful first venture (2004-2012), CalSTRS has allocated another $200 million to a similar joint venture going forward.

• National Institutes of Health:  As Principal In Charge, Marshall led a team of leasing, construction, development and finance professionals in acquiring over 600,000 square feet of property and managing in excess of $150 million in design and construction of both office and laboratory facilities.

• The MITRE Corporation:  Marshall managed the formulation and implementation of a strategic plan comprising 4 million square feet of owned and leased properties in New England and the Mid Atlantic.  Services provided include strategic planning, property sales, land acquisition, financing and the development of a $240 million complex.
