Current ResponsibilitiesMr. Awad's practice focuses on advising clients how to use their business requirements (operational and financial) to drive the development and subsequent execution of real estate solutions that meet those requirements. His expertise and guidance helps clients integrate their real estate efforts with the overall operational and risk management structure of their business organization. Mr. Awad joined Jones Lang LaSalle in 2005.
ExperienceMr. Awad's 30 years of experience encompasses transactional and regulatory matters as well as risk management, corporate governance, performance measurement, and corporate planning. He began his career in private law practice with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in Los Angeles, London and New York. Mr. Awad later became the Head of the Legal Department and then co-head of Corporate Planning for Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in New York. While at SMBC, he was responsible for the management, oversight and administration of various strategic planning activities for SMBC's Americas division. Mr. Awad directed the realignment of SMBC's real estate holdings and reformulation of SMBC's U.S. disaster recovery and business continuity strategy.
Mr. Awad has represented financial services firms such as SMBC, Natixis, Bank Hapoalim, KCG, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking; Centerline Capital Group, Van Eck Global, OpenLink, and Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, as well as private equity firms. He has also represented non-financial firms, such as Comcast, Edison Schools, the National Football League, Healthfirst, Atlas Air, T-Mobile, BMW of North America and the American Foundation for the Blind.
Mr. Awad has been a frequent speaker or guest lecturer on real estate and operational planning topics for organizations such as Columbia University, Area Development, Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and Datacenter Dynamics.
Education and Affiliations Mr. Awad earned a bachelor of science and master of arts in economics as well as his J.D. from the University of Southern California. He is a member of the New York and California bars.
