Ms. Fanning is the Midwest Region Sustainability Practice Lead with JLL's Project and Development Services group in Chicago, IL. Ms. Fanning has over seven years experience providing sustainability consulting for a diverse portfolio of projects including LEED certifications, WELL certifications, energy retrofits, net-zero carbon development, corporate sustainability reporting, and life-cycle assessments. As a LEED Accredited Professional, she is focused on reducing building energy use and the impact of construction on the environment through the implementation of green certifications and sustainability focused real estate initiatives. Keara leverages internal and external team members to provide optimized sustainability solutions for clients. Keara is also a member of the Global Energy and Sustainability Services Team.
Prior to joining JLL, Ms. Fanning worked as a Senior Sustainability Specialist for Positvenergy Practice (PEP), a consulting and engineering firm, and as Sustainability Consultant at Adrian Smith+Gordon Gill Architecture. At PEP she was responsible for developing strategic sustainability plans for buildings, businesses, and cities; including the management of the sustainability strategy and carbon management for a $2 billion international campus development. At AS+GG Keara focused on managing the firm's LEED certifications and strategic sustainability consulting for clients focusing on energy efficiency, energy generation, reduction of carbon emissions, waste management, water conservation, and other key performance indicators. Her major projects include the development and publication of the Chicago Department of Aviation's Sustainability Plan, Retrofit Chicago Commercial Building Initiative, and the Astana Expo 2017 (Kazakhstan, 2 MM ft2).
Education and Affiliations
Ms. Fanning holds a Master of Science in Bioenergy and Sustainability from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. While at UIUC Keara worked at the Energy Biosciences Institute in the Genomic Ecology of Global Change theme. Keara is an active member of the Illinois Chapter of the USBGC and on the Council of the Alliance for the Great Lakes. Keara is a LEED and WELL accredited professional as well as accredited by the Global Reporting Institute for corporate sustainability reporting.
