​Current Responsibilities

As Director of Technical Operations, George provides healthcare expertise over the JLL healthcare facilities management program, and supports account teams with innovation, program development, and ensuring the goals of higher reliability are achieved. He has served as an advocate for healthcare organizations as they strive to improve the quality and safety of their physical environments. 

George  is a nationally recognized expert on the Life Safety Code, Emergency Management and Environment of Care requirements, and as such is a highly sought after presenter, author, and educator.

Previous Experience

George has over 30 years of experience in the health care setting. He was formerly the Director for the Department of Engineering at The Joint Commission. In this role, George provided standards interpretation and education to The Joint Commission's Surveyors and accredited organizations and is a nationally recognized speaker and author. Previously, George served as Senior Engineer for the Standards Interpretation Group in the division of Accreditation and Certification Operations at The Joint Commission.

George's previous experience was included construction and structural steel fabrication. Prior to joining The Joint Commission, he served as a Director of Facilities; held national positions related to Codes and Standards, including serving as Director of Codes & Compliance for ASHE; and served as a consultant.

Education and Affiliations

Mr Mills is a Fellow with the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (FASHE), a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP). He is also a past President of HESNI – a local ASHE chapter.

Mr Mills earned an MBA from California Coast University in Santa Ana, California.
