​Current responsibilities
Michael Chisholm is a Vice President in JLL's Healthcare Solutions group, where he serves as the Account Director for our Department of Defense hospital clients, overseeing facility management and operations improvements.

Michael also is the JLL subject matter expert for healthcare regulatory compliance in the areas of Life Safety and Environment of Care. He supports our clients and service delivery teams in consulting on methods and programs to ensure patient safety and establish industry best practices. 

Michael is uniquely qualified to direct compliance for healthcare clients. He has over 20 years of healthcare industry experience, including nearly eight years in varying capacities at The Joint Commission and 15 years in facilities management at hospitals and health systems.

Experience
Prior to joining JLL, Michael was an engineer at The Joint Commission. In this role, Michael provided code and standards interpretation and evaluation services, education, and consultation consistent with all applicable Joint Commission standards, policies, and procedures.

As a surveyor at The Joint Commission Accreditation Operations, Michael conducted multiple accreditation site surveys. Most recently, working in the Department of Engineering in the Healthcare Improvement Division of The Joint Commission, Michael worked closely with many facilities in pre- and post-survey activity as well as representing The Joint Commission's Department of Engineering on the Accreditation Committee.

Prior to The Joint Commission, Michael was the director of facilities management for a health system in south Florida, leading facilities management efforts including renovation/construction, engineering, environmental services, biomedical equipment maintenance.

In this role, Michael designed a continuous readiness program for the management of the environment of care, increased overall operational efficiency and patient satisfaction by leading multi-million dollar capital improvement projects, and shaped a comprehensive five-year asset management plan.

Industry experience
Healthcare Management: 20+ year healthcare career leading various support services teams, construction & renovation projects, energy strategies, and patient satisfaction initiatives.

Quality & Compliance Expertise: Selected in 2004 to be on the first Joint Commission engineering team. In eight years, Michael helped grow & develop the engineering department by leading standards development and survey process management.

Education
Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering and Technology from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. 

Affiliations
Michael is a Certified Plant Engineer and Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager with a membership in the American Society for Healthcare Engineering. He served in the United States Air Force from 1986 to 1990 as a Fire Protection Specialist.
