​Current responsibilities
Jennifer Fairchild is the East Region Energy Director with JLL's Energy and Sustainability Services (ESS) group. In this role, she is responsible for managing Portfolio Energy Managers and assisting them in executing energy management and sustainability programs for various clients that reduce energy and water usage and cost.

These programs include energy procurement and rate studies, identification of energy saving opportunities and implementation of new technologies, as well as the coordination of demand side management projects and sustainability initiatives for client portfolios.

Jennifer joined JLL in May 2013 and managed energy and sustainability programs for Duke Energy’s real estate portfolio fulltime, totaling over 13 million square feet across the utility’s service territory. 

These facilities include office, telecommunications, light industrial, energy distribution and transmission control centers, and mission critical data centers. 

In 2015, Jennifer also created an energy management program for a portion of Univision’s real estate portfolio. This portfolio is predominantly TV and radio production centers with supporting office space and critical transmission equipment space totaling roughly 1.5 million square feet with over $12 million in annual utility expense. 

Jennifer also assisted in managing JLL America’s Energy Audit program, providing quality control and oversight for streamlined program execution and to drive process improvements. 

Prior to joining JLL, Jennifer was an energy engineer and project manager at Facility Strategies Group, a national strategic energy engineering and consulting firm. She was responsible for the planning and execution of energy retrofit programs including audits, design/specification, system commissioning, and M&V for commercial, high-rise residential and educational facilities. 

Jennifer has also served as the lead Commissioning Authority to conduct fundamental and enhanced commissioning on LEED-NC Gold certified projects.

Jennifer graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics.

She also received a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Jennifer is a Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, and LEED AP for the Building Design and Construction rating system. In conjunction with her responsibilities at JLL, Jennifer serves as Board Chair for the local non-profit organization Sustain Charlotte where she works to inspire more informed choices that will lead to a more sustainable future for the Charlotte region. 

Jennifer has also served on the US Green Building Council North Carolina Chapter Branch Leadership Group.
