Current responsibilitiesAs Executive Managing Director, Healthcare, Richard Taylor is responsible for leading and overseeing JLL’s healthcare real estate practice. Richard leads a team of more than 2,100 professionals nationwide who’s focus is to improve healthcare outcomes through real estate and facilities. With almost 30 years of executive level business experience in the fields of healthcare and real estate, Richard has unique insight as to how healthcare organizations can improve the patient experience, achieve cost efficiencies and improve quality through real estate and facilities. Richard regularly speaks at healthcare conferences and to organizations such as the American College of Health Executives, Urban Land Institute, Building Owners & Management Association and CoreNet. Richard is based in Washington D.C. and serves healthcare organizations nationwide.
Richard is an expert at understanding the relationship between healthcare operations and real estate. He recognizes that facilities and real estate can be the apparatus by which healthcare organizations hit their financial objectives and satisfy their missions.
He has advised hospital clients across the country in areas such as sustainable cost reduction, capital markets transactions, real estate management programs, market competition and physician location strategies.
Richard has significant healthcare experience beyond real estate orientated healthcare. As a founding member and senior executive at Oxford Specialty Management, he worked with leading academic hospitals to develop case rate payment systems for the treatment of several complex healthcare diagnoses.
Richard was then selected to run operations and business development as a Senior Vice President for the disease management company, Accordant Health Services. Here, he worked with health insurers and hospitals to outsource the post-acute care of patients with rare chronic diseases.
He has authored white papers on topics such as ambulatory network development, asset monetization and increasing health system profitability.
EducationRichard holds a Masters in Finance-Real Estate from New York University's School of Management.
He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Property Valuation from Massey University, New Zealand.
