Our people

Current responsibilities
Mr. Steger, Senior Vice President, Project and Development Services, leads the Industrial Services Group in the central US.  His team includes five project management professionals responsible for delivering build-to-suit construction projects for Jones Lang LaSalle clients nationwide and across the globe. 
Mr. Steger assists our clients in the entire project development process from early strategic planning and capital appropriations through design development, construction, commissioning and start-up.  His involvement includes needs assessments; facility programming and specifications; budgeting; financing; site selection; land planning and site due diligence; design management; entitlements and permitting; construction planning; procurement and contracting; construction management; equipment commissioning and start-up; and relocation coordination.
Years of experience
Mr. Steger has deep experience in many types of complex industrial projects, including modern distribution centers, multi-temperature distribution centers, food production facilities, chemical processing plants, power generation, light and heavy manufacturing, maintenance facilities, vehicle test and R&D.  He also has experience in sports venues and corporate offices.
Mr. Steger’s experience spans all areas of responsibility.  He began his career in the heavy equipment industry designing and selling complex machinery for use in heavy processing plants.  Then, with Flour Daniel and McClier, Mr. Steger managed all types of industrial design-build projects throughout North America.  He was Director of the Manufacturing and Distribution business line for McClier Corporation in Chicago.  More recently, Mr. Steger was a partner in a design-build construction firm, Morgan/Harbour, overseeing operations.
Mr. Steger joined Jones Lang LaSalle in 2006 and currently concentrates his efforts on securing and executing projects for industrial clients of the firm.  He has successfully completed millions of square feet of space valued at over $1B.  In addition, Mr. Steger is involved in a multitude of other efforts to support our real estate consulting practice, bringing his subject matter expertise to help our clients optimize their business decisions.

Mr. Steger earned his mechanical engineering degree from University of Illinois and his MBA from Pepperdine University.
