Current responsibilities
Steve Leathers serves as Executive Vice President for Healthcare in the Capital Markets Group of JLL.

He serves the firm’s investor, developer and provider clients by developing and executing financial strategies and requirements for their capital and occupancy requirements related to real estate, assisting them in the evaluation and execution of deal structures to meet their economic, investment and financial objectives.

Experience
Steve has over 10 years commercial real estate experience that includes acquisitions and dispositions, equity placement, debt financing, underwriting, underwriting, portfolio and asset evaluation, relationship management, and business development.

He has represented two nationally focused investment management platforms in the acquisition of $2.9 billion in commercial real estate totaling 12.8 million square feet, of which more than $1.7 billion was healthcare related including medical office buildings, hospitals, seniors-housing and skilled nursing facilities.

While focused on healthcare, his background includes expertise in office, mixed-use and life science properties. He has working relationships with a myriad of investor and capital funding sources including healthcare REITs, private equity, regional and national healthcare-focused developers, commercial banks and specialty finance companies.

Steve served as the Vice President of acquisitions of American Realty Capital Healthcare Trust leading this publicly registered real estate investment trust to build a $1.6 billion healthcare real estate portfolio of medical office buildings, hospitals and seniors housing properties.

Prior to joining American Realty Capital, Steve was Vice President for Grubb & Ellis Equity Advisors and its predecessor company, Triple Net Properties where he directed $1.3 billion in property acquisitions and placed over $1.1 billion of financing and equity investments for affiliated REIT’s, institutional joint ventures and high net worth investors.

Education
Steve holds a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
