​Current Responsibilities

Mr. Burns, a Managing Director of JLL, was one of the pioneers of providing national corporate real estate services.  He is currently leading JLL’s efforts to build strategic partnerships with major corporations and public entities to create synergistic opportunities in renewable and sustainable energy projects.

Experience

Prior to joining JLL, Mr. Burns was a founder and President of Burns & Company, Inc., a boutique corporate real estate advisory and brokerage firm dedicated to national and international representation of corporate clients.  From 1982 to 1993 Mr. Burns served as Senior Vice President of Realsource, Inc. (Chicago) and founded and headed their National Corporate Services Group.  Mr. Burns has represented his clients' interests in over 1,000 transactions in all 50 states and 15 countries.  Mr. Burns’ 32 years of experience in building strategic partnerships on a national and international basis has provided invaluable insight into the differing regional and national intricacies of a real estate transaction.  His ability to develop and implement corporate real estate strategies enables clients to save millions of dollars on their properties and operations.

Education and Affiliations

Mr. Burns graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, with a degree in Finance and serves on the Business Advisory Council for Miami’s School of Business. Mr. Burns recently retired after three terms as 2nd Ward Alderman for the City of Lake Forest and as Chairman of the Finance Committee.  Mr. Burns is a founding member of the Lake Forest Senior Housing Corporation (a 501-C3 corporation) and a member of its Board of Directors.  He is currently Chairman of the Lake Forest Housing Trust and Lake Forest Land Trust.
