​​Current Responsibilities
Michael O’Brien is currently acting as Project Manager / Owner Representative for two global leaders in their respective industries overseeing multiple projects that include a VAV BMS upgrade along with a modification to the existing pre-action fire alarm system and data room CRAC unit replacement project. Michael is also overseeing the alteration of approximately 67,000 square feet of office, manufacturing, distribution, R&D, national operations, training facilities and relocation of the corporate headquarters of one of the world's largest hearing aid manufacturer's.

Previous Experience  
Michael completed in 2012 a project as on site Project Manager / Owner Representative of Phase II of a $152 million dollar renovation of the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers for Jones Lang LaSalle on behalf of Host Hotels & Resorts.  The project scope consisted of renovation of 726 guest rooms and suites, and guest corridors, to include HVAC, MEP infrastructure upgrades, fire alarm replacement, substantial IT upgrades, ADA upgrades, asbestos and mold abatement and complete FF&E replacement.     

Previously Michael oversaw Phase I of a $152 million dollar renovation of the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers for Structure Tone, Inc.  The first phase consisted of completely renovating and expanding 1080 guest rooms and suites, HVAC upgrade and renovation of guest corridors.  Michael also held responsibility for FF&E coordination and installation during this phase.    

Michael was the on site Project Manager / Owner Representative for Urban America LLP, a private equity fund, and oversaw their $40 million dollar renovation and repositioning of the hotel International Plaza Resort & Spa to Doubletree Resort Orlando – International Drive.  The project included the complete renovation of 1100 keys (12 room types) located in nineteen low rise buildings and one 17 story tower building, FF&E tracking and installation, 29 acre landscape enhancement, hard-scape, and public area renovation to include three pools and surrounds, lobby, ballrooms, conference rooms, restaurant and bar.  Property infrastructure improvements entailed extensive mold remediation, electrical, plumbing, and security fencing upgrades.  

While contracted with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Michael acted as an on site Project Manager / Owner Representative for an $18 million typical guestroom conversion to Condominium and Fractional Ownership Units (76 keys), Public Area Soft Goods Renovation Project, Hotel Guestroom renovation (249 keys), King Cole Bar and Astor Court restaurant renovations at the St. Regis New York. 

Michael also held similar responsibilities as Project Coordinator for the St Regis New York renovation while working for LT Construction Consulting Services, Inc. in New York City.
Prior to his real estate management roles, Michael was the Vice President of Taft-Hartley Services for National City Bank in Cleveland, OH focusing on business development and management of client accounts.  From 1999-2002 he also served as the Regional Vice President to Taft-Hartley Services for ALPS Mutual Fund Services, Inc. where he was responsible for a portfolio of funds and client accounts upwards of $950 million.
Furthermore, Michael was an Account Executive at Inter-Jet Systems, Inc., a Marketing Research Assistant to Reis Reports Inc., and an Export Account Manager at BDP International, Inc.

Education and Affiliations
Michael has a B.S. in Business Administration/Marketing from St. John’s University, Jamaica, NY and holds a Project Management Certificate from Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY, is a certified Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst, and LEED Green Associate accredited.
