Current Responsibilities
Melvin Chu is a Senior Vice President in the Investment Sales division of JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group.  Mr. Chu joined JLL in January 2008 and has been responsible for underwriting, evaluating, structuring and closing of real estate transactions. Since moving to San Francisco five years ago, Mr. Chu has completed $1 billion of hotel transactions across the West Coast.

As a member of the San Francisco Hotels & Hospitality team, Mr. Chu has taken an active role in recent transactions including the Parc 55, Radisson Fisherman's Wharf, Hilton Santa Cruz, Upscale Marriott Select Service Portfolio in Portland,  DoubleTree Berkeley, Embassy Suites Valencia, Embassy Suites Palm Desert, Corporate Inn Sunnyvale, Radisson San Jose Airport, Custom Hotel LAX, Le Rivage Hotel, and W Silicon Valley. 

Prior to joining the San Francisco team, Mr. Chu was based in Atlanta, where he performed extensive and detailed valuation analysis on both individual hotels and large portfolios. During his time in Atlanta, Mr. Chu played an integral role in the successful sale of over 60 non-performing notes collateralized by hotel assets with an aggregate unpaid balance of approximately $250 million.

Education and Affiliations
Mr. Chu graduated with high honors from The School of Hospitality Business of Michigan State University with a specialization in Real Estate and Development. Mr. Chu is a licensed real estate salesperson in the State of California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, New Mexico, and Georgia.
