Current Responsibilities
Al Calhoun, Managing Director, co-leads the Select Service Division of JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group. Based in Atlanta, Mr. Calhoun specializes in arranging portfolio transactions of hotels or hotel notes and the disposition of small to medium sized lodging companies.

Mr. Calhoun came to JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group in 2005 with their acquisition of Thompson Calhoun Fair (TCF) where he was a founding partner.  Since 1990, he has been directly responsible for the disposition of over 750 hotels.  Notable recent closings include a portfolio sale of 64 Red Roof Inns with over 7,600 rooms, a portfolio sale of 17 Homestead Studio Suites with over 2,300 rooms and the sale of Lodging Enterprises, a company which owned 54 hotels and diners, a proprietary brand and management company. Further Mr. Calhoun, along with the investment advisory group of JLL has advised buyers on the acquisition of several hundred select service hotels.

Prior Positions
Previously, Mr. Calhoun was a founding partner of Thompson Calhoun Fair (2000-2005), a SVP with Hodges Ward Elliott (1990-2000) and held consulting positions with Marriott and Pannell Kerr Foster. He is a decorated veteran of the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS Blakely (FF-1072).

Education and Affiliations
Mr. Calhoun holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia State University’s Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality Administration where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He also holds the prestigious CCIM designation and is a frequent presenter at hotel industry conferences.
