Career Summary

Adam McGaughy is a Managing Director in JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group based in Chicago.  In addition to directing the group’s Central US and Canadian Hotels & Hospitality investment sales practice, Mr. McGaughy is involved in the marketing of individual full and select service hotels and portfolio transactions.

With over 25 years of hospitality sector experience, Mr. McGaughy has developed an extensive operational, sales and real estate background having worked for major corporations including CBRE Hotels (Hotel Partners), Omni Hotels & Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International. Since joining JLL in 2006, Mr. McGaughy has been involved in the sale of hotel assets in the U.S. valued in excess of $5.0 billion and has serviced major clients including Goldman Sachs, Host Hotels & Resorts, The Blackstone Group, Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors, Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Prudential Real Estate Investors, Ashford Hospitality Trust and Hyatt Hotel Corporation as well as numerous regional hotel management groups and individual owner/operators. In 2017, he was named as one of “The Most Influential Commercial Brokers in Chicago” by Crains Chicago Business, with his JLL team the only hotel specialists receiving this distinction.

Education and Affiliations

Mr. McGaughy is a graduate of The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University and holds a dual M.B.A. in real estate finance and marketing from DePaul University. He is a member of Michigan State University’s Hospitality Real Estate Development Advisory Board, where he also teaches a class on hotel valuation.
