Our people

Current Responsibilities

May Anderson is a Vice President with JLL's Southwest Project and Development Services group. May's expertise includes project management, architecture, retail development, tenant improvements, program/ process development and project team leadership. Originally from Hawaii, she relocated to Honolulu from Los Angeles in 2010 and is now responsible for the oversight and management of local construction and tenant improvement projects throughout the islands.

Prior to her relocation, May led a project management team for Disney's Corporate Real Estate group.  Her responsibilities included the implementation of JLL Best Practices, development of client specific processes and management of project staff. She also managed projects for a variety of corporate and retail clients, including Goldman Sachs, Godwin Procter, Dolby Laboratories, Activision, WPP Group, SAIC, T-Mobile, Ulta Cosmetics, Starbucks, Disney and Yum Brands.  May also worked for building owners including Beacon Capital Partners, Maguire Real Estate, Inc. and NAPI Glendale, LLC.

 Experience

Prior to joining JLL, May was a Project Manager with J.H. Snyder Company in Los Angeles, California.  She managed and implemented tenant coordination services for both retail and office projects. Her responsibilities included reviewing and pricing tenant work letters during lease negotiations, tenant design review (signage and tenant improvement), on site construction coordination between shell and tenant work, and project closeout for individual tenants. May's projects included retail malls ranging from 250,000-1,000,000 square feet and office buildings ranging from 250,000-500,000 square feet.

As an Associate with Gensler in Santa Monica, California, May was responsible for refining and implementing processes, working with clients to evaluate cost/ construction feasibility of sites, scheduling, cost-tracking and vendor management. She dealt extensively with leasing agents, tenant coordinators and mall managers – coordinating design and construction.  Projects included Johnny Rockets Group, Inc. roll-out, Silicon Entertainment Retail roll-out, California Joint Powers Insurance Agency and various projects for Disney Tokyo.

May was Principal for Carde Ten Architects in Santa Monica, California. She worked on projects that included the Getty Museum Fitness Center; UC Irvine Extension – North County Annex; Franklin La Brea Apartments, $4 million, 40 units; and Carlton Apartments, $2.5 million, 24 units.

Education and Affiliations

May received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from the School of Architecture at the University of Hawaii, Manoa; she is a licensed architect in the State of California and a LEED accredited professional.
