Current responsibilities
As a Managing Director for Jones Lang LaSalle’s Healthcare Solutions group, Sydney Scarborough guides the firm’s delivery of real estate and facility related services to hospitals and healthcare systems in the central United States. With more than 30 years of executive level business experience in the fields of healthcare strategy, finance, real estate and business consulting, Sydney’s career has been dedicated to helping hospitals and healthcare systems not only achieve their strategic, operational and financial goals, but by doing so, enhance the delivery system for the benefit of patients.

Healthcare providers are seeking ways to reduce costs, increase efficiency, build market share and create value for patients, and physicians. Utilizing Jones Lang LaSalle’s strategic consulting, financial strategy, development, facility management, construction management, and transaction advisory services, Ms. Scarborough’s teams design and implement more efficient management systems for a system’s entire real estate portfolio.

Experience
With an entrepreneurial spirit, Ms. Scarborough launched the healthcare finance business for Mellon Bank, Pittsburgh in the early 1980s resulting in $2.5 billion in financing for hospitals nationwide during the initial era of healthcare reform and DRGs. Her dedication to her clients enabled them to close nearly $1.5 billion in transactions in the last 6 months of 1985 before the Tax Act of 1986 took effect, saving her clients millions. To continue to provide strategic advantage to her clients, she established an independent healthcare strategic financial planning business to advise hospitals on capital allocation and investment decision making.

By 1997, she put her capital allocation advice into practice and co-founded Lillibridge Health Trust (predecessor to Lillibridge Healthcare Services) to help hospitals and healthcare systems monetize non-strategic assets, enhancing their cash positions and providing capital for growth. As a Board member and Executive Vice President, she led the Lillibridge team to nearly $1 billion in investments in healthcare real estate and authored The Lillibridge Guide to Healthcare Real Estate.

In 2008 Ms. Scarborough became a Board member of Swedish Covenant Hospital, an inner-city Chicago hospital, and in 2010 she established Scarborough Consulting, LLC to assist entrepreneurs with growth strategies. She is a recipient of the Follmer Bronze Merit Award for Outstanding Service to the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

Education
Ms. Scarborough holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, Katz School of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Chatham University, Pittsburgh, PA.
