Our people

Current Responsibilities

Mr. Smith, a 21 year employee of the firm, brings more than 32 years of industry experience to the job.  Currently serving as a senior project manager for Public Institutions’ Air Force Housing Privatization program, he also is Public Institutions’ national subject matter expert on facility management and commercial property management.  Additionally, Mr. Smith serves on the leadership team shaping service delivery strategies, client solutions and sharing of best practices.

Experience

Mr. Smith has extensive experience working at all client levels to develop and implement creative solutions for achieving facilities and real estate operational improvements.  He was a core member of our team that designed and implemented the U.S. Army’s Residential Communities Initiative program and was extensively involved in 20 Army housing privatizations.  Additionally, Mr. Smith developed and field tested our developer proposal evaluation program and annual site visit process for the Air Force housing privatization program.
Mr. Smith has 10 years of experience advising on public-private initiatives, including: project management, financial analysis, development planning, operations planning, legal/governance strategies, partnering strategies, incentive plans, transition plans and solicitation/proposal evaluation strategies.

Positions

Prior to Public Institutions service, Mr. Smith was a member of our Global Consulting Group where he participated in major consulting programs for large firms and public agencies.  Mr. Smith has been a senior officer responsible for management and leasing of a 22-million square foot portfolio of commercial properties and was owner and President of a commercial real estate leasing and management firm with 130 employees.

Education and Affiliations

Mr. Smith graduated Cum Laude from Ohio State University, Columbus, OH with a B.S. in business administration (corporate finance) and minors in mechanical engineering/sciences.  He is a Certified Property Manager (CPM®) in good standing with the Institute of Real Estate Management and possessed a Texas Real Estate Broker License.
