Brian Knies

Current Responsibilities


 

Mr. Knies is a Vice President in Integrated Portfolio Services team at JLL’s Boston, MA office.  He leads teams of professionals executing assignments for the United States General Services Administration in the northeast and Caribbean.  As the Regional Manger for the National Broker Contract, Mr. Knies leads each GSA leasing transaction from beginning to end, conducting market due diligence, identifying viable building alternatives, negotiating favorable rental rates and building out space to meet the tenant agency’s requirements. 


Experience


 

With 13 years of professional experience, including eight years of experience in commercial real estate transactions and five years of experience in public sector real estate, he is experienced in public and private sector Mr. Knies routinely conducts proposal evaluations, performs detailed financial analyses of lease proposals and cost-benefit analyses, prepares relocation and move cost analyses and creates comparison matrices of competing offers as well as other relevant analyses.  Mr. Knies has extensive experience in closing complex transactions land is accustomed to delivering creative, cost-effective solutions.  Mr. Knies worked on the acquisition, leasing, planning, development, management and disposition of manufacturing, flex and office space.  In this capacity he gained experience in the full range of corporate real estate, with work involving site orientation and selection, market analysis, valuation methodologies, construction management, facilities management, portfolio management, lease negotiation and management of environmentally distressed assets. 


Positions


 

In his former role as a Jones Lang LaSalle project manager on the U.S. Air Force privatization team, he managed military housing privatization projects across nine installations in five states involving approximately $500 million in development costs.  Mr. Knies has also led projects to help the U.S. Air Force monetize underutilized real property through enhanced use leasing. 


Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, Mr. Knies served as a Corporate Real Estate Analyst for Thermo Electron, supporting worldwide real estate, facilities and construction activities with financial and business analysis.  He also gained real estate finance, marketing and disposition experience as a Treasury Analyst with CBS, Inc. 


Education and Affiliations


Mr. Knies earned his Master of Science, Real Estate, development concentration, from New York University and his Bachelor of Arts, English, Environmental Studies minor, from the University of Vermont.  Mr. Knies is a trained negotiator, licensed real estate salesperson in New York State and a member of the Urban Land Institute.
