Current responsibilities
Joe O’Con serves as a Senior Project Manager based in the South region, specializing in project & construction management with extensive experience in directing and developing strategic planning scenarios for occupancy.  He has recently worked on various accounts such as Pagenet, Telcorp, Convergys, Coca-Cola, Honeywell, Intuit and Whirlpool.  He has been representing the client as an Owners Representative and a Project Manager for remodel projects and new ground-ups such as 3X data centers, call centers, corporate headquarters, office buildings, switch centers, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities ranging from 60,000 SF to 1.3M SF.  He uses his in-depth knowledge of infrastructure and distribution of electrical, mechanical, fire protection systems including factory mutual building standards, to carry out his responsibilities domestically and in Mexico.  He has saved clients money during the bidding process and value engineering, such as on a previous project he saved a client over $9M on a $30M project budget and reversed a contractor’s change order request from $752,000 to a credit of $50,000.

Mr. O’Con’s 30 years of experience with corporate facility management and project management ensures that his clients achieve excellent corporate facilities.  His focus is on client rapport, experienced management, continuous planning, innovative design and exceptional attention to detail. His most recent projects have been “build-to-suit” development projects for call centers and manufacturing facilities in the US and Mexico.  His most recent assignment was completing a one-million-square-foot distribution center in Monterrey, Mexico within eight months.
Mr. O’Con was responsible for the development of a new 50-acre regional campus facility in Las Colinas, Texas for Capital One.  Responsibilities included site selection, site due diligence work, master planning, schematic design and contractor bid negotiations. He managed several consolidation, expansion and relocation projects for PageNet Corporation, which totaled 630,740 SF.  Most notable is a 90,000-square-foot, 2X hardened switch & data center designed to withstand direct winds in excess of 160mph.  He also represented TeleCorp Corporation as a Construction Manager for the construction of a 15,000-square-foot communication switch center.
Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, Mr. O’Con worked for Fortune 500 companies including Applied Materials (Austin, Texas), a high-tech semiconductor manufacturer as Regional Customer Account Manager; Capital One Financial Corporation (Fort Worth, Texas) as Project Manager; Aguirre Corporation (Dallas, Texas), an Architectural and Engineering Firm; Bank One, NA (Dallas, Texas) as Vice President of Strategic Planning & Office Services; and ARCO Oil and Gas Company (Dallas, Texas) as Facilities Project Manager.
Mr. O’Con earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Design from Texas A&M University and is fluent with the Spanish language.
