Jones Lang LaSalle Bolsters National Law Firm Practice with Top Executive Hire

Chris Murray joins the firm as a Managing Director

BOSTON, March 15, 2011 — As part of the firm’s ongoing commitment to build a global law firm practice group, Jones Lang LaSalle announced today it has hired Chris Murray as a Managing Director. Chris will focus on expanding the firm’s law firm service capabilities across the country and in critical markets around the globe.

Murray joins Jones Lang LaSalle from Gensler, a global architecture, planning and consulting firm.  With more than 35 years of experience, Murray will counsel law firm clients on real estate deployment, space strategies, and optimizing domestic and international offices. He has worked on projects for more than 200 law firms in 330 locations, 27 states and 16 countries, including over 24 million square feet of space.
“Chris is well-known and respected within the law firm community across the globe,” said Greg O’Brien, Jones Lang LaSalle’s CEO, Brokerage.  “His depth of strategic experience, expertise and deep understanding of the evolving real estate needs of law firms makes him an ideal fit for Jones Lang LaSalle.”

Murray began his career in 1979 at Gensler’s New York office and after being appointed to Principal in 1984, relocated to Washington, DC to open a new office.  In 1996, after growing the DC office into the Southeast Region, Murray shifted his role to lead Gensler’s professional services practice.

“We are thrilled that Chris has elected to join the Jones Lang LaSalle team and that he will be based in the Washington, DC office” said Mike Ellis, Mid Atlantic Market Director, Jones Lang LaSalle.  “Chris’ leadership is further evidence that we are dedicated to hiring top talent who will add value to the work we do for our clients.”
“Joining Jones Lang LaSalle at this juncture in my career is a perfect move,” noted Murray.  “The firm’s sophisticated and integrated global platform, coupled with my experience will enable us to support large and small firms and help them respond to economic uncertainty, rising real estate costs, and the impact of technology and mobility on their work forces.”

Murray earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and his master’s degree in real estate from The Johns Hopkins University.  He is a LEED accredited professional, a registered architect, and a member of the Washington, DC chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He is also a fellow of the College of Law Firm Management.
