Jones Lang LaSalle Completes Two Law Firm Leases Totalling 69,000 SF in Downtown Los Angeles

Murchison & Cumming renews at 801 South Grand; Ogletree Deakins relocates to Mellon Bank Cente

LOS ANGELES, May 19, 2010 – Jones Lang LaSalle represented two law firms in leases transacted in downtown Los Angeles, Calif.  Murchison & Cumming, LLP signed a 10-year, 42,162-square-foot lease renewal at 801 South Grand Avenue.  Additionally, Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart, P.C. signed a 10-year, 26,924-square-foot lease at Mellon Bank Center located at 400 South Hope Street. Ogletree Deakins will be moving its offices from 633 West Fifth in downtown Los Angeles in June.

Murchison & Cumming, LLP is a premier civil litigation firm specializing in the defense of domestic and international companies and individuals doing business in California, as well as the representation of clients in business transactions and litigation throughout the U.S.  Ogletree Deakins is one of America's leading labor and employment law firms.

In the first transaction, Thomas McDonald of Jones Lang LaSalle represented Murchison & Cumming.  Peter Best of Madison Partners represented the landlord, Brickman.  In the second transaction, Darren Eades and Thomas McDonald of Jones Lang LaSalle represented Ogletree Deakins.  John Ollen and Jake Mota handled the transaction on behalf of the landlord, Tishman Speyer.

“In each of these transactions, the current commercial real estate market allowed the tenant the opportunity to secure a long-term lease with favorable terms,” said McDonald.  “In evaluating current market dynamics and other possible alternatives in the market, we determined that Murchison & Cumming’s existing building was the best fit for their business needs and goals whereas a relocation was best suited to align with Ogletree Deakins’ objectives.”

Added Eades regarding Ogletree Deakins’ relocation, “After an extensive search of the market and evaluating multiple relocation scenarios, Ogletree Deakins opted to relocate to Mellon Bank Center due to the creative concession package offered by the landlord and their newly built out office space enhanced to fit the culture of the firm."
