Jones Lang LaSalle Hires Matt Duthie in New York

Duthie to head property management group in Manhattan

NEW YORK, April 29, 2010 — Jones Lang LaSalle has hired Matt Duthie as a managing director. He will be based out of its New York office and will be responsible for the firm’s Property Management team in the city. He reports to Peter Riguardi, president of Jones Lang LaSalle’s New York region.

Duthie, 53, has more than 24 years of experience in commercial real estate, specializing in commercial real estate management and construction. He has extensive expertise in asset management and operations, operating budgets, building enhancement strategies, building maintenance, financial management and leasing, purchasing, contract management and cost control procedures.

“Matt Duthie is a leader in Manhattan commercial real estate and property management,” said Riguardi. “Jones Lang LaSalle is thrilled to bring on board an executive with his extensive knowledge and unmatched skill set. Matt will serve a key role in expanding the company’s property management portfolio and service offerings throughout Manhattan.”

Previously, Duthie served as an executive vice president with Ruben Companies, where he oversaw property management and construction services for more than 5 million square feet of commercial office space in New York, Washington, D.C. and Boston, and more than 1,000 luxury residential apartments in New York and Boston.

Earlier, he was a senior vice president and co-director with Reckson Associates Realty Corp. Duthie was responsible for the start-up and integration of the company’s Manhattan division and handled the daily operations of its 6 million-square-foot portfolio of Class A office property in the city. He was also actively involved in all due diligence for Reckson Associates’ acquisitions in New York.

Prior to that, Duthie was a vice president with Compass Management and Leasing before the company was purchased by Jones Lang LaSalle, a division manager with Colliers ABR, an assistant vice president with Keppel Tener Riguardi Inc., an area supervisor with Cross & Brown Co., an assistant vice president with Merrill Lynch & Co. and a second vice president with Chase Manhattan Bank.
Duthie received a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Queens College at the City University of New York, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York and a master’s degree in real estate from New York University. He also received a certification in construction management from the Real Estate Institute at New York University and was certified as a real property administrator by the Building Owners and Managers Institute.

He is the chairman and a member of the board of directors for the Real Estate Board of New York, and a vice president and member of the board of directors for the New York Energy Consumer Council. Duthie is a past member of the board of directors for the Building Owners and Managers Association, the East Mid-Manhattan Business Improvement District, the Times Square Business Improvement District and the Avenue of the Americas Association. In 2009, he received the Commercial Management Leadership Award from REBNY, and in 2004, he received the George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year Award from REBNY.
