JLL Retail Team Brings Entire Zuckerman Gravely Portfolio to 100% Leased in 12 Months

Andy Corno and Thomas Jackman reposition retail opportunities in Washington CBD

WASHINGTON, DC August 17, 2017 – JLL today announces the successful retail leasing activity within the firm's Zuckerman Gravely portfolio in Downtown Washington, D.C. Since taking on the assignment in April 2016, the JLL team, led by Andy Corno and Thomas Jackman, has 100% leased the retail space at Square 85 at 1020 19th Street and 1001 Connecticut Avenue.

"These buildings are in the core of D.C.'s Central Business District – right in the heart of the Golden Triangle. With great foot traffic during the week, these properties are ideal for retailers looking to capture such a hungry audience," notes Andy Corno, Vice President, JLL Retail Group.

Within the past 14 months, JLL has brought the following retailers to both Square 85 and 1001 Connecticut Avenue:

Square 85
Brian Hill's Comfort Kitchen, 2,768 s.f.
Abunia Poke, 1,085 s.f.
Gregory's Coffee, 1212 s.f.

1001 Connecticut Avenue
Verts, 2,063 s.f.
Smoothie King, 780 s.f.

"We couldn't be happier with the activity that the JLL team has brought to our buildings," states the Zuckerman Gravely Leasing Team. "Abunia Poke regularly has a line out the door and we know that Top Chef alum Brian Hill is going to be incredibly successful with this new venture back in Washington. We're ecstatic he's chosen Square 85 and anticipate a very busy introduction to his quick service offerings later this summer."

Interest from retailers seeking downtown space shows no signs of slowing, according to a recent JLL Retail Report. "First floor and below-grade office space that historically was occupied by law firms will continue to come back to the market over the short term and be reintroduced as retail space, delivering more options for retailers over the next few years," says Thomas Jackman, Vice President, JLL Retail Group.
