JLL Continues Smart Building Team Expansion

Yann Palmore brings 20 years of experience to fast-growing smart building program

CHICAGO, June 23, 2017 — JLL is pleased to announce the addition of Yann Palmore as Vice President of Smart Building Solutions to JLL's smart building program. Palmore comes to JLL with nearly 20 years of experience in facilities management, energy and sustainability, and high-performance buildings. Most recently, he was founder and president of Evolved Buildings, a company focused on helping property owners and developers create intelligent IT architectures for "net-zero" buildings.

As a facilities manager for Interliant in his first job out of college, Yann Palmore saw first-hand the expanding intersection of technology and the workplace. That experience, followed by hands-on experience in corporate real estate, sustainability and designing high-performance buildings, set the stage for Palmore's appointment as a leader in JLL's rapidly expanding smart building team.

"Yann is an expert in optimizing and integrating building systems to create highly efficient and effective smart buildings," said Darlene Pope, Senior Vice President and Director of JLL's Smart Building Program. "Yann's combination of IT, operations and facility management experience is ideal for helping our clients adopt this new data-driven environment that contributes to energy efficiency, optimized space utilization and an enhanced workplace experience."

In his new role, Palmore will educate and advise clients about the benefits of the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart building technologies, help tailor integrated smart building strategies and develop comprehensive master plans for deployment of solutions across their CRE portfolios.

Prior to Evolved Buildings, Palmore was president of Sustainable SoCal Inc., a consultancy focused on construction management, energy efficiency and strategic real estate planning. As the owner's representative during construction, Palmore was instrumental in helping the new J. Craig Venter Institute La Jolla win a prestigious Realcomm Digie Award for "Most Intelligent Corporate Headquarters."

Harnessing the IoT to create data-driven smart buildings is a major component of JLL's larger strategy to integrate digital facilities management solutions to support today's evolving ways of working and the future of the work. These smart building technologies make up a digital ecosystem that empowers employees through the integration of systems, response to real-time conditions and demands, and personalization of the workplace.

Palmore holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration and a certificate in computer science from Washington University, and a master of science in technical management from Johns Hopkins University. In addition, he is a Certified Energy Manager and member of the Association of Energy Engineers. He is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences, including IBCON, 12SL, Tradeline, GreenBuild and the American Institute of Architects, and is a Cyber Security Analyst at ZeroFox University.

JLL's Smart Building Program provides a comprehensive set of services and solutions to help clients develop a holistic strategy for building and workplace technology in order to deliver operational efficiencies, space optimization and a more productive work environment.
